Reflexology is a simple, powerful and deeply relaxing approach to working with the body that is, in my experience, highly effective in treating an unlimited array of physical and emotional conditions. Reflexology can be applied to the hands, the ears, even the face, but is most commonly, and most effectively applied to the feet.
The feet are our point of contact with the earth; we walk upon the earth, greeting it with each step of our feet, whether in joy and appreciation or indifference and disrespect, both feelings always reflected by and upon our feet.
Our feet are our support, our mobility and our roots, and in many ways are a more animal like part of our anatomy. They carry the entire weight of our bodies, marvelously distributed as we move through life, but often with little thought of gratitude from us.
Reflexology can begin to redress this imbalance by bringing loving and healing attention back to these constantly faithful friends of ours; and it draws the energy back down from our heads and upper bodies, where much of our energy permanently resides, so we may connect back into the earth, the mother that gives us life and nourishment.
Some of the conditions
Reflexology can be effective in treating –
Reflexology is simple in its application. Finger pressure is applied to areas of the feet, with varying techniques, and according to a map of the body which is reflected on the feet. So each part of the feet corresponds to a part of the body, both physically and to their emotional and psychological counterparts.
I also incorporate the oriental meridians into my practice of reflexology which gives it an added dimension and increased therapeutic benefit. As well as being powerfully therapeutic, Reflexology is also deeply relaxing.
When treating a particular condition, especially when it is chronic, I suggest a course of treatment over a number of weeks.
